I've decided to post in this blog once in a while on miscellaneous topics because sometimes former students in China want to find out what I'm doing and more than 1/2 dozen other people share my name (Charles Ditzler). You can also find my blog entries from 2006 at http://xizhimen.livejournal.com.

I think I've posted too much on here that's personal, so I might start making much of it private. I went down that path hoping that someone would want to know me better and no one else would be interested enough to be reading those posts anyway.
Uh, I think perhaps people nowadays prefer to send instant messages or share their momentary thinking online. Like China’s Weibo (similar with Twitter in the U.S.) could attract more people compared to blog. In facts, blog is accepted by the special group whose member has deep thoughts of something. The posts on blog usually tend toward the specific topics or contents. Maybe it is one of reasons that few people are willing to focus on it.
Thanks. I'm not interested in posting online so as to attract lots of readers. I originally created this to test access in China, and I hoped that people I knew in China could find me. Because people sometimes search about others online, I then decided to post more personal information, but I wonder if that was a mistake.
Twitter and similar things don't interest me. During about the first ten years of Facebook, I disliked it because of the lack of privacy and constant superficiality. But as more organizations started to rely on Facebook to convey useful information, I started to log into it more. The site also does help me connect with people that I can't meet in person very much. However, I'm moving back to feeling disenchanted with it.
